The USC Ombuds Office follows the International Ombuds Association’s (IOA) Standards of Practice:

Confidentiality

We are a confidential resource and operate off-the-record to the fullest extent possible. We do not reveal who comes to us or what matters were discussed under our contract of confidentiality.

Impartiality

We function as an impartial and neutral resource to provide unbiased information and perspectives.

Informality

We offer an alternative to formal campus processes. We do not make policy or business decisions, adjudicate matters, participate in disciplinary or grievance processes, conduct formal investigations, or act as an office of notice.

Independence

We are independent in appearance, purpose, practice, and decision-making. We hold no other roles at USC to minimize conflicts of interest.
