Katherine Greenwood, JD, PhD, CO-OP ®
Katherine Greenwood, JD, PhD is the University Ombuds for the UPC Campus. Kathie is a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner, CO-OP® and an active member of the International Ombuds Association (IOA) where she serves on the Government and Policy Committee and as an IOA Mentor. Kathie has extensive background as a mediator in academic settings. In addition, she is also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach, CPCC™, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, a Certified MBTI Myers-Briggs Trainer, a Certified Crucial Conversations® Trainer, and a 3Practice Circle Referee. Prior to stepping into the ombuds role, Kathie practiced maritime law domestically, in state and federal courts, and internationally. Previously, she served as the Director of the Ombuds Office at the UC Davis and UC Davis Health Sacramento campuses and as the Ombuds at the University of Colorado Denver. Kathie is available for individual consultations, group facilitations, mediations, coaching and training on communication and conflict management topics.

Thomas A. Kosakowski

Tom Kosakowski, JD
Tom Kosakowski, JD, serves as the University Ombuds for the Health Sciences Campus, including affiliated schools, hospitals, clinics, and research facilities. Prior to establishing the office at USC, Tom served in a similar capacity as the Ombuds for the Health System at UCLA for 12 years. He also established the Ombuds Office at Claremont Graduate University and served as the Campus Ombuds at UC Riverside. He trained as a mediator with the LA County Bar Association and has mediated cases for the LA Superior Court. Tom is an active member of the International Ombuds Association and served on its Board of Directors, including as President. He regularly teaches new ombuds as an instructor for IOA. Tom also publishes “The Ombuds Blog,” an independent news site for the organizational ombuds profession. This is Tom’s third career; he worked as an economist and attorney before becoming an ombuds. (Tom is admitted to the California State Bar, but does not provide legal advice as the University Ombuds.) Tom is available for individual consultations, conflict coaching, group work, facilitated meetings, mediations, and presentations on conflict management topics.
